eKare is a Software as a Service (SaaS) healthcare company specializing in wound imaging, wound documentation and analytics. Founded in 2014, eKare began as a spin-off from Children’s National Medical Center when a team of scientists began studying the utilization of sensors and mobile technology for wound care. Lead researcher and clinician Dr. Kyle Wu saw first-hand the challenges with traditional wound care practice, including inconsistency in wound assessment, the burden of paperwork, and lack of quality data to support evidence-based care. Taking these findings, the team commercialized a technology that addresses these unmet needs.
